Maxine graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.S. in Bioengineering and a minor in Food Systems. She conducted research in Dr. David Schaffer's lab where she used directed evolution to engineer AAV capsids for enhanced CNS tropism, and in Dr. Niren Murthy's lab, where she synthesized polymers for targeted payload delivery. In the Sharpe lab, she is developing novel CAR T treatments for various cancer models and studying how aging influences anti-tumor T cell immunity and metabolism. Outside the lab, she enjoys running, traveling, and trying new foods.
